Changes to our service

September 7th, 2009

As previously mentioned, we’re making some significant changes to our service, and many of our loyal users have noticed that the timeline we communicated is now past and gone. We’d like you all to know that we are still working hard behind the scenes, and later this year we will be unveiling the new service.

We’re confident that what we will be providing will be a great improvement on our service today, and we thank you for your patience. Due to the ongoing work on our new service, we have stopped making changes (improvements, bug fixes, change requests) to the ZYB service.

Thanks for waiting for us!

The ZYB Team

ZYB is changing

May 26th, 2009

We have been working hard to make ZYB better. This June September, ZYB will be transformed, with a brand new website, great new features, improved customer support and much more.

Thanks for supporting us over the last couple of years. We’re looking forward to giving you a great new experience.

As part of the changes we’re making to improve the service, a few ZYB features will no longer be available from June September 2009. These include:

  • Pictures
  • SMS back up
  • Calendar

Thanks,

The ZYB Team

How to get ZYB into your Ubiquity

March 24th, 2009

We’re big fans of Mozilla Ubiquity. We use it for Twitter, Wikipedia, even translations. But where’s ZYB? Well, last night Adam hacked together this handy Ubiquity command:

Not sure what this is? Here’s a demo.

How to use Twitter to get your message on our five office wall displays

February 20th, 2009

To make sure we’re in touch with our many users, all tweets mentioning “zyb” will find their way to all of our office displays. This is your chance to let us know how we’re doing, give feedback, suggestions or just say hi. Follow @zyb to see our replies.

ZYB DK has a new office!

February 12th, 2009

…and you were wondering why eveythings so quiet! Last Friday we finished up work, had a beer (to say goodbye to the old office), packed up and left the office. Monday morning we got to work in the new office, and at 09:10 we were back doing what we do best: Coding!

We’ve been growing as a team over the past months, and sharing desks only goes so far. Thats why we’ve now got a much larger space in the same building. A lot of preparation went into the move, and it was as smooth as a move can be.

New features: Free SMS, manage groups, easier location sharing, and status update

November 27th, 2008

We have just released some pretty nice improvements to ZYB. Here are a bunch of them:

Free SMS
Free SMS for everyone! Yes, we’re serious. Starting today, you can send 100 SMS text messages each month - for free. All it takes is to connect to the person you want to send your text messages to.

If you’re a Vodafone customer you might be in for an even bigger treat. More about this in about a week.

Introducing the “Me bar”
The Me bar (as we call it) is all about, yes, you. Enter your contact details, set up your phone, change your profile picture. It’s all available in the new Me bar that you can access from anywhere on ZYB.

Share your location

Update your location. Enter your address or the city you’re in, and allow your friends on ZYB to see where you are right now.

(What’s even more cool, we’ve added the Geode support for Firefox so all you have to do is click a button and be localised. Read more about Geode on our geek blog).

Tell your friends what you are up to
Also in the me bar, we’ve added a quick way for you to change your status line, telling your friends what you are up to (this is what we used to call “shouts”)

Good news for new users
Yet another reason to get your friends on ZYB: Signing up is easier than ever. We’ve simplified, improved, fixed bugs and then simplified a bit more.

Manage your groups
As of today, labels are called groups. We’ve also added an easy way of managing your groups - look for the Groups tab in Settings.

Better contacts overview
Managing your contacts is now a lot simpler. The contacts overview also holds three new, big round buttons: SMS, Email and Call - making it easy for you to contact your friends directly from ZYB

Above, CEO and co-founder Tommy Ahlers uses the opportunity to recruit a new user, the Crown Prince of Denmark as he presents the award for outstanding digital service design. Also in this photo: Visual designer Christofer Grifo and front-end lead and co-founder Ole Kristensen.

Read the jury’s statement and make sure you check out the other winners, too.

The award is a very heavy cube:

As from today, you may log in to your ZYB account - or create a new one - with your OpenID. OpenID.png

Need an OpenID?
MyOpenID is one of the many providers that will give you one for free.

Got an OpenID?
To associate your OpenID with your current ZYB account, simply log in with your OpenID and follow the guide to associate your two accounts

New stuff on ZYB

August 18th, 2008

We can’t wait to show you what we’ve done the last few weeks, so let’s take a quick sneak peak of what’s coming up on ZYB this week.

The friend player
Sit back and get the latest updates on what your friends have been up to. The new friend player on the home screen of ZYB also lets you jump straight to Flickr photos, tweets, Facebook profiles, etc.

Need to organise your friends? Put labels on them.
Edit a contact and enter them directly - or wait for the dropdown to suggest labels you already use.

ZYB | Kontakter.png

To show people with a specific label, use the phonebook button right above the list of your contacts

… and look for labels:

or, when viewing a contact with a label, click the label and see who else has this label:

Hyves
You asked, we put it in. You can now import your Hyves contacts into your ZYB phonebook.

As always, let us know what you think, need and dream of by sending your comments to ZYB blog _ New stuff on ZYB-1.png
