ZYB is changing
We have been working hard to make ZYB better. This June September, ZYB will be transformed, with a brand new website, great new features, improved customer support and much more.
Thanks for supporting us over the last couple of years. We’re looking forward to giving you a great new experience.
As part of the changes we’re making to improve the service, a few ZYB features will no longer be available from June September 2009. These include:
- Pictures
- SMS back up
- Calendar

So just contacts backup. I assume the great new features will include paid calendar backup. Maybe you could at least try to include ALL the vcard fields in contacts backup in future, that would really be a great new feature. I’ll wait and see.

Regarding VCard fields, we are pretty much dependent on the data that phones send up to us. While most native sync applications work fine, there are some 3rd party applications out there that “create” their own VCard field names. While we accept them when syncing to us, if a new phone is added to your account and the contacts downloaded, that new phone may not understand the non-standard field names from the first phone. Specifically for WinMo, iPhone and BBs I’ve seen this happen quite a few times. If you would like us to look at a specific case, drop us an email.
I’m also not aware of any plans for a paid calendar backup solution.

I had hoped that you would keep the calendar. This was my main reason for using ZYB!
I’m off to Google Calendar I think. And the backup feature? Maybe another web service or my local computer.

Will these new features also include an android sync…recently migrated to a HTC Magic and have noticed you aren’t supporting sync with it yet, it has been a nightmare getting my contacts to Google.

Without Calendar, ZYB will become just another teen’s community tool, I’m affraid. Calendar plus Contacts are the key features I depend on. Sorry to see that happen…

Hi Zyb team. I note that you’re discontinuing the SMS backup service. How can a user download all the SMS’s from your site? I’ve looked at your help section but haven’t found the solution. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a problem with my account. I registered in 2007 succesfuly and I didn’t had any problems. But now, when I try to log in, it asks my country again, but now Macedonia is not on the list??? Can You fix this problem, please? Bye from Macedonia

I have been looking for my zyb mailbox for the past three months and i can’t find it. I don’t know where you guys have moved it to. My zyb address is amazingrace@zyb.com
I really need my mailbox because i missed a job interview because i was sent an email about the interview and only got a call the day after saying i missed an interview and was sent a reminder email. Please get back to me asap. Where is my mailbox?

With sms backup and calendar backup gone you are curtailing the very essence of zyb.
The basic attraction of zyb was the comprehensive service - contacts, sms and calendar in one location (although the calendar was quite bug ridden). With just contacts left there is no longer any compelling reason to stay.
Are these features being migrated to a “paid” upgrade?

I have been having this problem with logging in. I log in and then it brings me back to the home page but doesn’t recognize that i have logged in… it just shows the home page with the option to login all over again. I tried resetting my password and from my email account i get redirected to a change password page and then it tries to log me in and then i am back to the same homepage as if i haven’t logged in. what is the problem??

wow, nerfing Calendar sync?
Get real Zyb. You’re not a social network, just a free sync service. From June 2009, you’ll be nothing to most your current users. Have fun when your investors come down from their high. You’ll get nowhere unless your software is distributed with a major network and integrates into other’s sites. No-one wants another facebook. And even then, how are you going to MONETIZE?

Hi,
I started with ZYB from the beginning. But when Vodafone bought ZYB, the service is becoming worse and worse.
1. Not all countries (European too!) in the list of the countries.
2. First of all the developers of ZYB finished all future localizations (Russian etc.).
3. After that we received “great new features from ZYB” - old site but without mail.
4. Now we see another “great new features”: old ZYB site but without SMS Backup and Calendar.
My offer to ZYB: please make PAID sync of contacts a.s.a.p. and I will finish to use your service and will move my contacts to another site.

I joined ZYb for SMS backup abd restore, but like most other companies ZYB has failed to offer these services even at a cost. Anyone who know’s a similar service please email me or post here.

It’s not working for me. I tried to import contacts from Facebook and Twitter many times. It brings me an “Importing” + “OK” button, then nothing… any help there?

I just discovered ZYB and was surprised that such a great thing, phone backup combined with updating of contact details by friends, really exists.
Now I read that you are dropping the caledar sync support. Why? This vastly reduces the usefullnes of your service because I need all the data on my phone backed up. (And other people to I presume.)
I would even be willing to pay for it.

Just found the website few days ago. It sounds interesting but at the end, website is very slow, it take close to a minute to display 1 contact detail. The synchronization with Facebook and Google does not work.
If you have some problem to sign-in try to do it from a different page than the Home (for ex: https://zyb.com/my/phone/contacts/#0), it works for me on IE8, FF3 et Chrome. What other alternative exists? O-sync? I am trying it write now!

Feature announced (Facebook / Google / Calendar) sound very promising, but not much is stable. As someone said earlier, don’t try to replace facebook, but focus on sync! Wake up, your audience has been divided by 5 since late 2008: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/zyb.com

I’m sad to say this but:
I really beleve that ZYB is dead, first the decrease of service level, then the incapability of harvesting the customer needs (”willing to pay 4 service..” etc.) and now the silence………………..
